What is VOLTAREN 2,32% Gel and what it is used for ?

VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel contains the active ingredient diclofenac diethylamine, which belongs to the group of drugs known as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel is a specially formulated formula for rubbing and fast passage through the skin. Thus, the active ingredient directed deeply into the inflamed tissues.

It is suitable for the treatment of:

ü  Adults and adolescents over 14 years:

ü  Muscle and joint injuries (sprains, bruises, back pain, sports injuries). It leads to rapid relief of moderate to severe pain and helps to restore normal condition;

ü  Tendon inflammation (eg tennis elbow), swelling of the elbow or knee.

ü  Light forms of knee or fingered arthritis.

  1. What you need to know before using VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel

Do not use VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel:

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance diclofenac or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy;
  • if you are under 14 years of age.

Warnings and precautions

Do not apply VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel to the skin in conditions such as cut or open wounds, rash or eczema.

Avoid applying to large areas of the skin for longer than the approved period of time except in the case of a physician's recommendation.

VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel is for outdoor use only. Do not apply VOLTAREN 1,16% Gel in the mouth. Do not swallow. Wash your hands after use. Take care of VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel does not get into your eyes. If this happens, rinse your eyes with clean water. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you continue to experience any discomfort.

You can apply it under elastic bandages or bandages that are commonly used in traumas such as sprains or sprains, but do not use plastic bandage under air-stopping.

Children and adolescents

There is insufficient data on the efficacy and safety of VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel used in children and adolescents under 14 years of age.

In adolescents over 14 years of age, if you need to use VELTAREN 2.32% Pain Relief Gel for more than 7 days, or if the symptoms get worse, it is recommended that patients or their parents seek medical attention.

Other Drugs and Voltaren 2.32% Gel

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

If you are pregnant or are breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel should not be used during the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it may harm your unborn child or cause complications at birth.

VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel should only be given after a doctor's recommendation during the first 6 months of pregnancy, the dose should be as low as possible and the duration of treatment should be as short as possible.

VELTAREN 2.32% Gel should be used only after a doctor's recommendation during breast-feeding as diclofenac passes into small amounts in breast milk.

VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel contains:

  • Propylene glycol, which may cause mild localized skin irritation in some people.
  • Butylhydroxytoluene, which may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis) or irritation of the eyes or mucous membranes.

Always use VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

How Many Voltaren 2.32% Gel to Use

Adults and children over 14 years:

Apply twice daily (morning and evening) to the skin on the painful area, which provides relief of pain for up to 12 hours.

How to use VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel

  1. First use and unscrew the cap. Remove the tube guard by inserting the opposite side of the cap and rotate.
  2. Squeeze a small amount of gel from the tube and slowly rub into the skin on the painful or swollen area. The amount needed varies depending on the size of the painful or swollen area. Typical amounts ranging in size from cherry to walnut are enough. You may feel a slight cooling effect while rubbing the gel.
  3. To avoid accidental eye or mouth contact, wash your hands after use, unless they are the treated area .

How long to use VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel

Do not use VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel more than:

Adults and children over 14 years:

2 weeks - in muscle and joint injuries (sprains, sprains, sprains, bruises) and tendon inflammation;

Adults (over 18 years old):

3 weeks for arthritis.

A longer treatment period may be recommended by a doctor.

If you use more than the required dose of VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel

if you have squeezed more than the required amount of gel, wipe the excess with a suitable cloth;

if you or a child accidentally swallows VOLTAREN 1,16% GEL, contact your doctor immediately.

If you have forgotten to use VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel

If you have forgotten to use the 2.32% Gel, apply it as soon as you remember and proceed as usual.

Do not use a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

  1. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Gel can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Some rare and very rare side effects can be serious.

If you notice any of the following signs of allergy, stop using VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel and tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately:

  • Skin rash with blistering on the skin hives (They may affect between 1 and 10 in every 10,000 people).
  • Chest, shortness of breath or weight in the chest (asthma) (Can affect less than 1 out of 10,000 people).
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat (These may affect less than 1 in every 10,000 people).

Other side effects that may occur are usually mild and quickly resolve (if you are concerned, tell your doctor or pharmacist).

Common side effects (These may affect between 1 and 10 in every 100 people):

  • Skin rash, itching, redness or stinging of the skin.

Very rare side effects (These may affect less than 1 out of 10,000 people):

  • Skin may be more sensitive when exposed to sunlight. Possible signs of this are sunburn with itching, swelling and blistering.
  1. How to store VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not use Gel after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

VOLTAREN 2.32% Gel does not require any special storage conditions.
